Race Training Course
Previous Experience Required: Competent Crew + 15 Harbour Races (or Equivalent)
Make your racing more enjoyable – fine tune your racing skills. EastSail conduct a Racing Course for EastSail Students inclusive of theory and on water sessions.
Ability After Course: Understand basics of racing, Course management, Sail Trim, Crew Management and Racing Rules
Instructor: Dayne Sharpe, Australia's Olympic sailing coach in 2000 and 2004.
Duration: 1 x 3 hour theory session plus 3 x 2.5 hour on water practical sessions - Two of the on water sessions will be done in conjunction with the CYCA’s Wednesday Night Summer twilight racing.
Syllabus
On water sessions include:
- Sail trim
- Upwind and downwind speed
- Tactics, fleet position
- Helming technique
- Race de-brief

Previous Experience Required: Must have completed an EastSail sailing course EastSail's own race, crewed and skippered exclusively by EastSail graduates. A great way to gain experience after you have learnt to sail with us and widen your circle of acquaintances. Debriefing after each race on our dock overlooking the water, including post race snacks & drinks, supplied by our sponsor CBD Cellars. Format : April 5th to October 2008 - Saturday afternoons from 1.45pm October 29 to March 17th 2008 - Monday twilights from 5.45pm Cost : $55 per race or 10 races for $500 Race tickets valid for 12 months from date of purchase. 4 hours notice required to postpone race booking.

Previous Experience Required: None
An opportunity for people who have not learnt to sail with us to take part in our club racing. We hold these every month, incorporated with the students' club race. There is an instructor aboard to show you the ropes! Debriefing after each race on our dock overlooking the water, including post BBQ & drinks, supplied by our sponsor CBD Cellars.
Format : April to October - Saturday afternoons from 1.45pm November to March - Monday twilights from 5.45pm

Hamilton Island Race Week 2008 Join in the fun of the largest and most exciting sailing regatta in Australia. Sailing out of Hamilton Island on the turquoise waters of the Whitsunday Passage amongst a fleet of more than 250 yachts from around Australia and overseas. We will be sailing aboard 'RYA' our Beneteau 40.7, a sister ship to 'First National' the winner of the 2003 Sydney - Hobart Yacht Race. There are all sorts of yachts racing - from the sleek, powerful maxis to the stately cruising yachts. There is fun ashore as well! There is racing on 6 of the 8 days, with 2 midweek lay days where you can explore the island, join in the festivities on the pure white silica sand of Whitehaven Beach, or kick back and sip cocktails by the pool.
