First Aid and Radio Operators Courses


Marine First Aid

Previous Experience Required: None

Meets commercial (TDM MF 10 01A) requirements. STCW95 compliant - includes CPR, injecting and suturing.

Ability After Course: To be able to administer first aid whilst waiting for specialist care

Duration: 10.5 hour, 1 day course including certificate exam at the end for the day. Allow 10-14 days for receipt of certificate.

Syllabus:

  • Marine first aid kits
  • Hypothermia
  • Pain management including injections
  • Seasickness
  • Amputation and crush injuries
  • Related crew overboard issues
  • Seeking assistance                                                                                            
  • Drowning
  • Air extraction
  • Patient handling

Inclusions: First Aid Handbook, All equipment, Red Cross Senior First Aid Certificate. Handbook can be sent to you in advance for additional fee,

Marine Radio

Previous Experience Required: None.

Follows the syllabus of the Marine Operators Certificate of Proficiency as provided by the Office of Maritime Communications. Includes "hands on" a DSC set in the classroom. We can recommend OMC material that can be read prior to the course if reequired.

Ability After Course: To be able to operate, transmit and recieve on HF and VHF radios 

Duration: 8 hours, either  day or over  two evenings 6pm - 10pm.
There is a course exam at the end of the session, this is sent to the OMC for marking, they then issue the certificate. Please allow 10-14 days for receipt of this.
