RYA Starting Yachting learn to sail Course

 

Discover Sailing! Taught on beautiful Sydney Harbour, this introductory learn to sailing school course covers the fundamentals. You will be at the helm of our exciting Beneteau keel boats right from the first lesson and comfortably accomplish all the basic manoeuvres of sailing by the end of the course.

Previous Experience Required: None - we will teach you to sail on Sydney Harbour!
                                                         

Ability After Course: Basic sailing experience and understanding of sailing terms, relevance of wind direction and speed to sailing, points of sail, basic knots, manoeuvres of tacking and gybing, right of way rules, rigging and preparation for sailing.     
                    

Course Duration: There are two ways to do this course.

15 hours, comprising 4 x 3 hour on board practical lessons and an EastSail club racing session. Includes course kit, RYA log book and certificate.

2. WEEKEND LIVE ABOARD: Includes all meals, RYA certificate.

Inclusions: PART TIME: Course kit including RYA competent crew handbook, RYA log book, sunglasses strap, sailing magazine. Insurance, safety equipment and use of spray jackets plus RYA Start Yachting course certificate on completion aboard a keel boat.

 

LIVE ABOARD COURSE: Meals aboard, RYA Start Yachting Certificate on completion. Insurance, safety equipment and use of spray jackets. RYA learn to sail book if required $25, RYA log book if required $15.

 

Booking and postponement: The weekend live aboard course is run 1-2 times each month, we require 15 days notice if you want to change a booked date.

The 3 hour sessions are run on weekends and you can do lessons as it suits you. To postpone a booked lesson you must contact us before 1pm Wednesday. if you need to change your lesson time after 1pm Wednesday then there is a re-booking fee of $50.

Part-time courses commence regularly, the booking structure is flexible. You do not need to book all of your lessons in advance. You can choose to do 1 lesson a week, or 1 a month, or 2 a day.

There are 2 ways you can test drive our school.

 

1. Sails and Ales... Once a month we run monthly 'try sailing' sessions, a great way to get out on Sydney Harbour aboard one of our beautiful yachts and a chance to meet other people who enjoy sailing and test drive our sailing school!! These are held on Monday evenings from 5:30pm during the summer and Saturday afternoons from 1:45pm during the winter season. The Sails and Ales events coming up will be held on April 6, May 11 and June 15, and after the sailing we have a dockside BBQ and drinks, kindly sponsored by Vintage Blue. Bookings are essential. Cost $95. If you then decide to learn to sail with us we offer a $50 rebate on the cost of the RYA Start Yachting or Competent Crew Inshore sailing school courses. 

 

OR

 

2. Join into a 3 hour lesson with other trainees, these are run most weekends. Cost $135.
