Sail Port Stephens Regatta

Learn to sail fast and then put your skills to the test at the Sail Port Stephens Regatta in April. Experience the thrill of being on the start line with hundreds of other yachts. This regatta is the fastest growing sailing event in Australia with a 600% growth in entries since it began 5 years ago. Combined with the training you receive in Sydney, the Port Stephens Regatta is an exciting and rewarding way to improve your trimming skills, crew work, tactics and spinnaker experience. Speed queen Bryony Gregory, RYA Yachtmaster Offshore, will be your instructor. We will be racing aboard the Beneteau First 40 'Iago' with the full wardrobe of kevlar sails in the natural breathtaking beauty of Port Stephens - the dolphin capital of Australia! The regatta is on 19th-21st April, with a training day in Port Stephens on the 18th and a day in Sydney in early April. There is more fun off the water with social events at the Point Collette Sailing. Cost is $1295 for the 2 days of training plus the 3 day regatta. Hamilton Island Race Week Sail Port Stephens regatta crewing

Audi Hamilton Island Race Week is one of Australia’s favourite yachting events and a firm fixture on the international sailing calendar. Competitors, family and friends come together to enjoy the convivial atmosphere and unique camaraderie of the event’s on-water and off-water carnival. The water is turquoise and the scenery is breathtaking and the race courses are designed to sail around many of the Whitsunday Islands including Lindeman, Dent, Hook, South Molle, Henning Islands. All levels of sailing experience and ability are welcome. The crews have team dinners most evenings. Dates for 2013 are 17 - 24th August.

'Iago' with Ben McGrath or 'Leeward' with John Quinn for Hamilton Island Race Week

The Beneteau First 40's are quite competitive, sisterships to 'Too True' and 'Wicked' - winner and runner up of the 2009 Sydney to Hobart Race. Iago and Leeward had podium finishes in Hamilton Island Race Week in 2011 and 2012, in 2012 Iago finished 5th in Performance Handicap Division 2 of Hamilton Island Race Week, only 2.5 points off 2nd place!
