EAST AUSTRALIAN COAST OFFSHORE AND OCEAN SAILING DATES 2019 AND 2020
Adventurous spirits are invited to participate in these exciting voyages from Sydney to the beautiful Whitsunday Islands. These 500NM and 550 NM passage legs are a combination of learning, gaining experience and coral island cruising! The complete Competent Crew, Dayskipper or Coastal Yachtmaster course will be covered.
Join us for this challenging voyage sailing along the NSW coast to the north and circumnavigate islands including – Lion, Bird, Cabbage Tree with port entries into Pittwater and the Hawkesbury and Port Stephens. You will be sailing aboard one of our Eastsail offshore yachts and these courses will include night sailing, offshore miles, passage and pilotage planning. Northwards the passage takes in Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast and finally Brisbane. Leaving Morton Bay on the leg North, ports of call are at Thomas Island, The Percy Islands, Island Head Bay and Pearl Bay. We sail through the Fraser Island straights through Hervey Bay to gain some vital tidal and current knowledge. Sailing skills will be taught and reinforced in a relaxed atmosphere covering topics such as coastal and satellite navigation, passage planning, cooking at sea, basic engineering and maintenance, spinnaker work, and reefing.
The passage from Hobart to Sydney is the longest and often most demanding. Crossing the Bass Strait is a challenge but sprinkled with amazing stops in Tasmania’s Wineglass Bay, Flinders Island group and onto the Southern New South Wales coast. Ports of call include historic fishing ports of Eden and Batemans Bay.
