Marine First Aid Course. Learning how to react to emergency first aid situations is important, even more so when you are isolated on a yacht.

The content for this marine based first aid course has been developed by paramedics who are experienced offshore yachtsmen. Using the Red Cross intermediate first aid syllabus as the core content, you will focus on the injuries which are marine specific. This course includes hands on practice at CPR, injections into oranges and suturing chicken breasts.
This first aid course:
  • Complies with Apply First Aid HLTFA 311C incorporating HHTCPR211A perform CPA and HLTFA 211A Provide basic life support.
  • Is workcover approved (ANTA 3224518).
  • Candidates for RYA Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster are required for have a first aid certificate.
  • Complies with Yachting Australia, RYA and ISAF RRS Special  Regulation  4.07.6 – at least 2 crew members aboard a racing yacht must hold a first aid certificate.
  • Meets commercial requirements (TMD MF 1001A) Master V.
  • Is STCW10 compliant.

First Aid Course Details

This First Aid course has no prerequisites, and runs for one day from 8am-6:30pm, including a certificate exam at the end for the day. After the course, you will be able to administer first aid in a marine environment whilst waiting for specialist care. The total coast in $350 including a First Aid Handbook, all equipment, and a Red Cross Senior First Aid Certificate (please allow two weeks for this to arrive). This course is taught by instructors from OMTC at Mosman, near the ferry jetty. It is a requirement to supply identification (such as a driver’s licence, passport or medicare card) and a USI number for this course. Please go to to create this.
