Safety and Sea Survival Course

If you are sailing offshore, the Safety and Sea Survival course will give you essential, life-saving skills in the event of an emergency.

50% of crew competing in offshore racing in Australia are required to hold the Safety and Sea Survival course certificate (SSSC) as well as anyone wishing to convert their RYA Yachtmaster certificate to an MCA endorsed Commercial qualification. The Sea Safety Survival course comprises 16 hours including theory components, a practical life raft session and a flare demonstration. You will learn skills that are essential should an emergency situation arise. The Sea Safety Survival Course certificate is valid for 5 years and the revalidation course can be undertaken over one day provided your certificate has not expired.
Sea Survival training includes advice on what personal equipment to buy and what is not good value. The Offshore Marine Training Australia instructors who teach the course are highly experienced yachtsmen who have encountered severe weather in the Southern Ocean and around Cape Horn.
