It was our first time as a couple alone out on a boat so we were fairly hesitant, but Joe gave an awesome walkthrough of everything and explained things to us very patiently. He told us pitfalls to avoid and recommendations on which cool places to anchor at which made us make good value of our hire.

I have only positive things to say about the overall experience. The canopy was a nice touch and not taken for granted in the sun yesterday.

We’d definitely be happy to come back for hire of a larger boat for a party and recommend to other friends.

My Husband, myself and my 2 sons 6 and 10 years. Katey was nothing short of awesome, keeping the younger crew engaged in learning and having the initiative to stop for some fun in the sun for the kdis and parents theory lessons ! Stretching us as far as we could go and always explaining everything she was doing and why. For us it was the perfect reintroduction to sailing for my husband and I and a great beginning for the boys but what we hadnt bargained for was it was the most amasing team building week for the whole family. Albeit a bruise-inducing one! Pro-tip – bring some knee pads!

We booked East Sail for a five-hour trip to watch the start of the 2017 Rolex Sydney to Hobart open ocean race. We were met by our skipper George and the first mate Mikhail who is George’s son. ... read moreWe booked East Sail for a five-hour trip to watch the start of the 2017 Rolex Sydney to Hobart open ocean race. We were met by our skipper George and the first mate Mikhail who is George’s son. Our ship, Liberte, was quite seaworthy and comfortable. She wasn’t built for speed, for sure, but comfortable she was indeed!

After the requisite safety briefing, we set out under engine power for a striking tour of Sydney Harbor with the Opera House and the Sydney Harbor bridge highlighting this part of the cruise. Both George and Mikhail were very knowledgeable about the area, the Liberte, and what we could expect heading back to the Sydney heads where we would witness the start of the race. After anchoring in a beautiful bay, the crew and passengers had a quick lunch.

At about 12:30 pm the sturdy ship headed for the starting line. Boats were as thick as fleas on an untreated dog’s back but we were in expert hands as the skipper negotiated his way to the best spot for watching. George’s expertise was nothing short of fantastic and afforded everyone on board an unforgettable experience! We followed the early race leaders out of the heads for several hundred meters until the tides were getting a bit much for us neophyte sailers when we did a 180 and headed for home.

Highly recommended and George even saved my wife and me a pricy taxi trip back to Cremorne.
